Growing up in Walnut Creek, CA, Katie has always been in and around the water. She started swimming competitively at recreational and national level when she was just eight years old. After many years of swimming competitively in the pool she decided to participate in open water races, Katie has completed one of the most decorated open water courses in the country; the Alcatraz course in San Francisco Bay.
While swimming, Katie attended Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill, CA, where she swam and played water polo for two years. During her collegiate career she earned an All-American status in the 50 yd Freestyle and 100 yd Individual Medley, she also competed at 4 CCCAA State Championships for both swimming and water polo.
Katie continued her swimming endeavor as she moved to the Jacksonville area in the summer of 2013. She joined Planet Swim the same year and has played a major role in our program, both teaching and coaching, since then.
Prior to Planet Swim Katie served as the Head Junior Varsity Coach at Northgate High School for three years, she was also an Assistant Coach at Rancho Colorados Swim and Tennis Club in the summer time.
Katie is married to Josh, they enjoy spending their free time hiking, camping, and backpacking.
